Welcome to E-borough Insight
Welcome to our December edition of E-borough Insight, your newsletter from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.
As we come to the end of the year, we look back on some of the seismic decisions that 2025 have brought. The biggest of which will see the most significant change in the borough's governance in its history, as local government reorganisation sees the establishment of two new unitary authorities for Surrey.
But with any change comes opportunity, and we want to hear resident's thoughts on the concept of creating two new community councils to retain a local tier of governance. The consultation will run until 1 February 2026.
This is also a time for celebration, and the council was pleased to mark the completion of its first Young Legends programme with a celebration event for participants and their families. Over the last nine weeks, over 80 children aged 9-11 enjoyed a range of sports and creative activities as part of the council’s Health & Wellbeing Strategy, that aims to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of all residents.
Looking ahead to the new year, the Epsom & Ewell Business Awards will be celebrating local businesses in March 2026. If you know of a local business that has impressed you with their great customer service, community work or fantastic products, make sure you put your nominations in before the awards close at 11:59pm Wednesday 31 December 2025.
Lastly, from everyone at the council, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
