Welcome to February’s edition of E-Borough Insight, your newsletter from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.

Key decisions and progress on fundamental projects have taken place:

• We have set a balanced Budget for 2025/26 with no need to draw on council reserves, a real achievement during a challenging financial environment. Read the full article including council tax information.
• We're compiling and sending all supporting evidence, including all Local Plan Consultation responses, to the Government's Planning Inspector for independent examination. Read more about the Consultation including answers to frequently asked questions
• The Government has confirmed that Surrey will be part of the first wave of the Local Government Reorganisation agenda, and therefore local elections across Surrey will be postponed to May 2026. We continue to work towards our ambitious carbon neutral target, this time completing our largest solar panel installation to date, at the Rainbow Leisure Centre. Read more here.

And finally...
This year marks five years since the start of the pandemic and we will commemorate the COVID-19 Day of Reflection with activities and events both leading up to the day and on the day itself. You are invited to light a candle or write a message in a Book of Remembrance at either Epsom Town Hall or Bourne Hall. Councillors will also be placing ribbon bouquets on COVID-19 memorial benches across the borough. Find out more.
