Summer's here!

Which means it's the children's' school summer holidays and unbridled joy (well for the first few days and then the dawning realisation that you've got weeks stretching out ahead of you trying to find things to keep them occupied)!

Fear not. Our summer activities brochure is available to view online detailing sporting, music, dance and educational pursuits in and around Epsom and Ewell for youngsters aged 18 and under during the summer holidays.

Discover your borough's local history with Bourne Hall Museum's guided walks taking place across Epsom and Ewell throughout the summer. To find out what walk's are on, at what times and where visit the What's On section at www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk

There's also the Summer Reading Challenge at Surrey's libraries. This summer it's called Mischief Makers based on the comic the Beano which is celebrating ' which is celebrating 80 years. Children signing up for the challenge will follow clues to explore a colourful collector's map of 'Beanotown'; meeting 'Dennis', 'Gnasher' and friends along the way. Taking part is easy and free. Just visit a library to sign up, then borrow books throughout the summer and earn special stickers to help find the mysterious buried treasure. Children will get a certificate and wristband after they've read six books.

The challenge which is produced by The Reading Agency is a fun way to help children to become confident and happy readers. They can read whatever they like and can now borrow e-books and audio books as well. Mischief Makers started earlier in July and runs until Saturday 15 September. The National Trust is urging families to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air this summer by exploring their special places. It's a great time to try somewhere different to your usual haunt and they have a wide ranges of places for you to enjoy. On their website they have put together some suggestions for Summer fun in east Surrey 

You could give your kids an immersive experience in August with a four day wild adventure in the woods with Surrey Wildlife Trust. Exploring the wonderful woodland habitats their our private nature reserve near Leatherhead, children will play games while learning how to communicate over long distances, have fun building shelters and try cooking over an open fire.
