Volunteer with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

An opportunity to volunteer with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission cares for the graves and memorials of 1.7m people who died in the two World Wars, in 23,000 sites around the world, in over 150 countries, on behalf of six Commonwealth Governments. Brookwood Military Cemetery is one of those sites.

This year is the Commission’s centenary and Brookwood Military Cemetery (MC) has been chosen to showcase the Commission's history and archival treasures. The centenary exhibition will open to the public on Saturday 20 May 2017 in The Canada Building at Brookwood Military Cemetery and remain open for six months.

The Commission are seeking volunteers to work with a great team in a role that will be indoors as well as outdoors. There will be a number of different volunteer opportunities; for example, a steward within the exhibition, give tours of the cemetery, support the Commission's staff at a particular event, get involved in one of the Commission's community engagement groups or simply spread the word about the CWGC, the centenary exhibition and Brookwood MC. The Commission will provide training and induction to volunteers.

If you are interested in helping, please contact the Commission as soon as possible at community@cwgc.org to find out more.
