Be a Councillor in Epsom & Ewell - Information Evening

Are you interested in becoming a local Councillor? We are holding an information evening at which you will have the opportunity to hear about:

  • How the Council works

  • What being a local Councillor in Epsom and Ewell involves

  • The support available to Councillors

  • The nomination process for the 2023 elections.

Winter Family Festival 

Join us to see Epsom Town Centre's Christmas lights switched on. Plus - free children's rides, family activities and entertainment, and choirs singing carols. 

Where: Epsom Market Square

When: Sunday 27 November, 11am-5pm

A Short History of Christmas 

A talk about the history of Christmastime in Europe. For children of all ages.

Join the team at Bourne Hall for a whistle stop tour of Christmas through the ages, including early pagan origins, bringing in the yule log and feasting during the Medieval and Tudor periods - including the introduction of sprouts! Includes paper chain and lantern making.

Where: Bourne Hall Museum, Spring Street, Ewell KT17 1UF

When: Saturday 10 December, 1pm-2.30pm 

Price: £5pp

Ewell Yule

Ewell Village will hold its annual Christmas market with late opening from local traders plus rides, choirs, dancing and music from the Epsom & Ewell Silver Band. 

When: Friday 9 December 5pm - 8.30pm

Epsom and Ewell markets

Regular markets in Epsom marketplace take place on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday plus special markets are held on most Sundays.

Epsom Market

Farmer's Market - Epsom Marketplace
This market usually takes place on the first Sunday of the month from 9.30am-1.30pm.

Artisan Market - Ewell Village
First Saturday of the month, from 10am-3pm.
This new Artisan market in The Grove in Ewell Village takes place on the first Saturday of the month. Come along to see a gorgeous selection of wooden children's toys, handmade jewellery, local honey and jams and lots more. 

Remembrance weekend wreath laying ceremonies

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council will be laying poppy wreaths at several ceremonies across the Borough over the Remembrance weekend.

The ceremony arrangements are below, and the public are welcome to attend. Anyone wishing to attend should arrive 10 minutes prior to the ceremonies:

Friday 11 November

  • Epsom Clock Tower, Market Place, Epsom at 11am.

Saturday 12 November

  • Horton Cemetery Memorial, Horton Lane (Hook Road Arena end), Ewell at 11.30am.
  • All Saints Church War Memorial, Fulford Road, West Ewell at 11.50am.
  • Dog Gate Memorial, London Road (Entrance to Bourne Hall Park), Ewell Village at 12.15pm.

Sunday 13 November

  • Epsom War Memorial (Junction of Ashley Road and Treadwell Road), Epsom at 9.30am.
  • Commonwealth War Memorial, Epsom Cemetery, Ashley Road at 9.30am.
  • St Mary’s War Memorial, St Mary’s Churchyard, Church Street, Ewell Village at 10.45am.
  • St Martin of Tours with St Stephen-on-the-Downs, Church Street, Epsom at 11am.

Epsom Common Association (ECA)

ECA supports the preservation and protection of Epsom Common local nature reserve and site of special scientific interest. ECA works in partnership with the Council, the Lower Mole Countryside Management Project and English Nature to contribute to the long term management and conservation of the Common.

Nature walks
ECA organise a number of walks on the Common each year which are led by local natural history experts. The subjects that are usually covered each year include birds in early spring, wildflowers, butterflies, invertebrates particularly bush crickets, bats and fungi. The EcoVols
If you care about the Common and enjoy its wildlife and beauty why not join the ECOVOLS, the volunteer group of the ECA. EcoVols carry out a variety of conservation projects on the Common throughout the year in association with English Nature, the Council and the Lower Mole Countryside Management Project.
