After a bit of a false start – spring has sprung!
Spring; a time for new beginnings and the council is about to make a fresh start with borough elections. With every seat on the council up for election, this is your opportunity to choose the direction of the borough for the next four years – see the Spotlight section for all the details we have so far.
If you know a young person aged 6-16, this spring sees the opportunity for them to begin a relationship with a new sport (for free)! We’re running training sessions in the run-up to the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games, the largest annual multi-activity youth event in Surrey – see the Key Facts section.
If you’re thinking about a new start in your work-life, in this issue we’re also highlighting the annual Epsom & Ewell Employment Fair.
As the weather turns a bit more clement, don’t forget a great way to enjoy the great outdoors is our popular annual Round the Borough Bike – registration is now open.
Spring is also when we start looking at invigorating our gardens and we’re loving the new Recycle for Surrey, gnome grown campaign!
By convention in the run-up to any elections, communications from the non-elected side of public authorities becomes constrained. This period starts at the formal notice of election (the borough election notice is published this Friday) and lasts until the close of the polls. This is to ensure that messages cannot be perceived as supporting a particular candidate or party in the election. As part of the convention, we will not be issuing e-borough Insight next month but will return in May with a round-up of the borough’s election results.
Have a great couple of months and don't forget to vote!
