More convenience on-line

This summer, we launched the latest phase of our online self-service, offering an alternative way to access Council Tax and benefits services, see:  PC self service

The new system allows residents to:

  • View their council tax bills and instalments online
  • Set up a direct debit online
  • Apply for or remove a Single Person Discounts online
  • View benefit claim details and notifications online
  • View recent benefit payment details online
  • Sign up for e-billing and e-notifications

The functionality also allows local businesses to sign up for e-bills for Business Rates, set up direct debits and view bills and instalments online.

Landlords who receive direct payment of Housing Benefit for their tenants will also be able to sign up for e-notifications, view and download their payments schedules, check on the status of their residents’ claims and view outstanding invoices.

Access is available 24/7 using PC/laptop, mobile or tablet.

It also enables residents who need much larger print to zoom in on their bills and notifications to assist with reading them, or those with assistive computer technology can use PDF compatible screen readers to read the documents out to them.

To date 400 users have registered to use the service and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Registering online is easy. There are links to online self service on the Council Tax, Benefits and Business Rates areas of our website

You will just need the account number of the account you are registering to access, a valid email address and you will be asked some security questions regarding your account. If we do not hold enough information about you, or you cannot answer the questions, you will be given the option to request a PIN. The PIN number will be then sent via post to the address associated with the account.

If you have any issues setting up or accessing your account, you can contact the Revenues and Benefits Technical Team on 01372 732284.
