Join Ebbisham Sports Club’s Social Rackets Morning

Jo Robinson, Ebbisham Sports Club Development & Membership Co-ordinator, took some time to tell us about Ebbisham Sports Club’s weekly rackets sessions.

What sports are involved in Ebbisham Sports Club’s Social Racket mornings?
Badminton, squash, racketball, tennis, touchtennis, tabletennis and pickleball (from America!). All the equipment is provided for each sport.

Who are the sessions for?
For adult men and women of any age and ability, but particularly those wanting social games in a friendly club environment.

Why do you think the sessions have proved so popular?
These morning sessions give parents, part-time/flexi-hour workers or semi and retired people an opportunity to learn and play a variety of racket sports with others of a similar standard. It is also a chance for adults to get back into sports they may have played previously for fun and health reasons, rather than competition. The sessions can improve participants’ physical, mental and social well-being if continued on a regular basis.

When do the sessions take place? EbbishamSportsClubSocialRackets
Thursday mornings from 9.30am-12noon. There is an optional break where participants are free to have a chat halfway through!

How much experience do you need to take part?
No experience is necessary. We welcome complete beginners or those who have played before.  Everyone is very friendly and games are setup to mix all abilities.

What would you say to someone who said they worry they might not be fit enough to take part?
Some of the racket sports like pickleball and tabletennis are very gentle exercise and you can do as much or as little as you wish. Some people play for an hour and then spend the rest of the time chatting over coffee whilst others last the whole two and a half hours without a break! However, coming regularly will definitely improve physical strength, balance, co-ordination and fitness.

How can people find out more?
By calling Jo or Lorna in the Ebbisham Office on 01372 720647 or via email at admin@ebbisham.com. You can also take a look at our website or Facebook page for more info.

Are there any special offers potential members could take advantage of?
We currently have a ‘Bring a Friend’ offer where two people can participate for the price of one. We also have occasional open days where we waive the usual joining fees.
