While the seriously hot weather this summer may be just a memory, the forecast is for mild, even warm, conditions for the whole of September. So why not get out and take advantage of some of the great events taking place in the great outdoors within the borough?

We have the annual Round the Borough Hike and Nonsuch Park open day this month, as well as a plethora of community events. We’re also hosting the Royal British Legion’s celebrations of the anniversary of the end of WW1 with a concert and picnic in Bourne Hall Park.

Residents in Nonsuch ward should have now received their poll cards for the by-election in their ward. This will be taking place on 20 September – the rest of us will have to wait until May next year for the borough-wide local election.

However you won’t be able to vote if you don’t confirm your details on the Electoral Register the annual canvass is now underway, and we take a look at what that means in the Key Facts section.

One of the subjects that has caused many residents to contact their elected representatives has been the high number of unauthorised encampments within the Borough this summer – in the spotlight section we take a look at this contentious issue.
