Tackling anti-social behaviour

Last Friday, as part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, our Environmental Health and Licensing teams joined Epsom and Ewell Beat (Surrey Police), the local Roads Traffic Policing Unit and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency on an operation focusing on road offences.

Around 40 vehicles were stopped in Epsom resulting in the following:van

  • 1 arrest on suspicion of drug driving
  • 4 people reported for using a mobile device whilst driving
  • 3 people dealt with for speeding
  • 8 people warned for not wearing a seat belt
  • 2 licensed taxi offences
  • 20 vehicles checked by Environmental Health for waste management and transportation, with a number being required to produce documentation
  • 3 immediate prohibitions taking unsafe vehicles off the road
  • 2 instructions requiring essential vehicle repairs within 24 hours
  • 1 vehicle seized with no insurance.
