Rescue your recycling!

Do you separate and sort? Or do you throw everything into one black bag, including the kitchen sink?

This summer, Surrey residents are being asked to rescue their recycling by separating it from black bag waste before visiting a Community Recycling Centre (CRC).CRCResuceYourRecycling

Residents should separate paper and card, textiles, small electrical appliances, metals and reusable items from their black bag waste. Once at a CRC, individually labelled containers make recycling quick and easy.

Currently, almost a third of all waste thrown away in a black bag at CRCs could be recycled. If all of this material was recycled, it could save £1 million a year because it costs less to recycle waste than it does to dispose of it.

Residents could even save themselves a trip to the CRC and discover that waste such as clothes and home textiles, paper and card and small electrical items can be recycled with ease at home.
