Borough Insight

In this issue …

The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another; the difference between them is sometimes as great as a month -- Henry Van Dyke

Just as the current weather is a very mixed bag, this issue of e-borough insight contains an abundance of different pieces of information.

We look at volunteering; good for your health (who knew) as well as good for the community. We highlight the forthcoming County Council elections and we look again at the upcoming changes to your rubbish and recycling collections.

The staff at the Council have a new boss and there is a job fair for those out of work (hopefully the two things are not connected)!

The events taking place across the Borough are a real cornucopia; from a talk on the Lochnagar Crater on the Somme to the Ewell Village Easter Egg Hunt – and that’s not including the vast number of shows this month at the Epsom Playhouse or all the activities within our Community section.

Finally, we are still recruiting for Team Epsom & Ewell, our entry for the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games. So far we have over 500, 7-16 year olds signed up for the free sports training sessions and the chance to represent the borough at the games – spaces are filling up fast, so if you have children who want to learn a new sport or become more proficient in a sport they already love, this is the ideal opportunity.

Why is my council tax so high. Band E I have stopped using the libraries since they stopped renting CD's--[UNANNOUNCED to most people ]--and have very little use of Surrey Services other than the refuse collection.
