New East Surrey Council Chief Executive appointed
On 29 July 2026, at the East Surrey Shadow Council, Adam Chalmers was appointed Chief Executive of the new East Surrey Council.
Adam is currently Interim Head of Paid Service for East Surrey Shadow Council and Chief Executive of Elmbridge Borough Council. He brings more than 20 years' experience in local government to the role, with a strong track record of improving services, supporting communities, and delivering value for residents.
Adam hopes to start the role in September 2026 to prepare for East Surrey Council taking over all council services in East Surrey from April 2027.
