Round the Borough Bike
This is a fantastic way to give 2016 that early health kick or just a new way of enjoying the beautiful borough in which we live.
Round the Borough Bike follows a long distance route of approximately 20 miles across the borough encompassing Epsom Downs, Epsom Common Local Nature Reserve, Nonsuch Park, the Hogsmill Local Nature Reserve and Horton Country Park Local Nature Reserve.
It’s suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness and takes place on Sunday 15 May. You can register to take part now.
As part of the event Surrey Police are offering a free bike marking service all day from 8.30am-4pm in Horton Country Park and Epsom Bikehut will be providing a cycling mechanics service, free bike checks as well as a 10% discount for any repair work subsequently done by them.
Cycling is one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your routine because it's a low-impact type of exercise, so it's easier on your joints than running or other high-impact aerobic activities. But it still helps you get into shape.
To take part in Round the Borough Bike, you really don’t have to invest in primary-coloured Lycra (although we won’t stop you) but we do advise that you wear a cycle helmet and your bike is in good shape (just as you will be after 20 miles)!
