The referendum on the United Kingdom's membership of the European Union takes place on Thursday 23 June 2016.
You will be asked the question:
Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?
As in an election, if you want to have your say at the EU referendum, you must be registered to vote.
To take part in the referendum you must be registered by 7 June to be able to vote on 23 June. In England, Scotland or Wales, you can register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
If you are not sure whether you are registered to vote, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can inspect the register yourself at the Town Hall. If you have registered to vote, you'll be sent a card telling you when voting takes place and where you should go to vote on 23 June. Alternatively you will also be able to opt to vote by post or vote by proxy.
