Well, for us the year started with a little bit of a surprise, with the news that we were having to arrange a by-election for the Ruxley ward! The election for a new councillor will take place early next month. If you live in the Ruxley area, check out the key facts section for details on who is standing plus some important dates and watch out for your polling card.

Man’s best friend is often far more than that and, with Valentine's just around the corner, what better time to highlight the Dog’s Trust campaign about responsible dog ownership.

We’ve been asked if the news that China is stopping imports of recycling material will impact on our service. While it’s still early days, the message is to carry on recycling your plastics and we take a bathroom break to highlight the opportunities for recycling from the smallest room in the house.

Talking about the smallest room and with Valentine's night in mind, we also include a reminder to check the food hygiene ratings – don’t let a restaurant's poor hygiene mean that you spend your romantic evening feeling ill in the bathroom; look before you book!
